'WWE Wrestlemania 29 live coverage of fighting matches and Results Play-by-Play and CHAT Discussions 7/4/2013

welcome to this interesting night. we will be reporting the actions and results live and you can participate in the discussion of the events in the chat below

First fight tonight is for the WWE Intercontinental Championship: Wade Barrett vs. The Miz

What went down: This was a short match, lasting only about five minutes. Miz was rather amped up and was able to withstand an early charge from Barrett. He had the Figure Four Leg Lock applied once, but Barrett made it to the ropes.

Winner: The Miz won his second Intercontinental Championship by making Barrett submit to the Figure Four Leg Lock.

Randy Orton, Sheamus & The Big Show vs. The Shield

What went down: The Shield took a beating early on, especially with Big Show laying in chops to Ambrose, but they came back and we able to keep Big Show in their corner. Things got crazy, but Sheamus was looking to make the big tag to Big Show, but Orton jumped in and tagged himself in. He got rolling, hitting a great RKO on a flying Rollins, but he turned right around into a spear from Reigns and Ambrose covered him for the pin. After the match, Big Show hit the KO punch of both Sheamus and Orton.

Winner: The Shield

Ryback vs. Mark Henry

What went down: All Henry in the early going, as he won the early strength battles with Ryback. It continued to be all Henry, working Ryback over with bear hugs and other power moves. Ryback, though, fired up and actually got Henry up on his shoulders for the Shell Shock, but Ryback couldn't hold it when Henry grabbed the top rope and buckled under the weight and Henry pinned him. After the match, Henry tried to attack more, but Ryback hit a spinebuster and left him laying with the Shell Shock.

Winner: Mark Henry

WWE Tag Team Championship: Team Hell No vs. Dolph Ziggler & Big E Langston

What went down: Looking back to last year, Ziggler pulls AJ up on the apron for a kiss, only to turn around into a high kick from Daniel Bryan, the exact opposite of what happened to him last year, only Ziggler kicked out at two. Bryan hit a furious suicide dive and it was on from there. Ziggler and Langston were impressive in this one, but it came to an end when Kane choke slammed Ziggler and Bryan hit a big flying headbutt.

Winner: Daniel Bryan & Kane, still WWE Tag Team Champions.

Chris Jericho vs. Fandango

What went down: Jericho all over Fandango to start the match, but Fandango settled in. He hit his guillotine leg drop from the top rope, but Jericho kicked out. The two went back-and-forth with Fandango missing the leg drop again. Jericho went for the Lionsault but over shot it, landing poorly on his knee. He tried to go for the Walls of Jericho anyway, but couldn't plant. The momentary hesitation allowed Fandango to grab Jericho in a small package for the win.

Winner: Fandango

World Heavyweight Championship: Alberto Del Rio vs. Jack Swagger

What went down: Swagger worked the shoulder in the early going. This is a back-and-forth match with both men hitting moves. Swagger locks in the Patriot Lock and they trade their submission moves with Del Rio working the cross-armbreaker a few times. The action spilled to the outside when Zeb Colter got involved, putting Swagger's foot on the rope and then kicking Ricardo Rodriguez in his broken ankle. Del Rio came out, but was hammered by Swagger and thrown into the barricade. Back in the ring, though, Del Rio countered Swagger, locking in the cross-armbreaker and forcing the tap.

Winner: Alberto Del Rio, still World Heavyweight Champion

The Undertaker vs. CM Punk

What went down: Some great action here. Undertaker took it to Punk on the outside, but Punk countered Old School by dragging Taker to the mat and then did it himself. Later, he went for it again, but Taker crotched him. He hit the ropes for his big WrestleMania dive, but Paul Heyman got in the way to stop it. Punk took advantage of the distraction and hit a clothesline and the big elbow drop. He went for the GTS, but Undertaker hit a choke slam, but Punk kicked out at two.

A Punk high kick sent Taker onto the Spanish announce table. Punk goes to the top and hits a flying elbow, but the table doesn't break. Undertaker barely beats the count. Punk goes to follow up but Taker locks in the Hell's Gate. Punk counters into the Anaconda Vice. Undertaker zombie sits up out of it and is eventually able to hit the Tombstone, but Punk kicks out.

Punk hits the corner knee after accidentally taking out the referee. Taker turns it into the Last Ride, but Heyman hands Punk the urn and he knocks Taker out with it. He goes for Undertaker's signature cover, but Taker kicks out at the very last fraction of a second. They trade a bunch of reversals, but it's Undertaker who is able to hit the Tombstone and move to 21-0 at WrestleMania.

Winner: The Undertaker

No Holds Barred Match: Brock Lesnar vs. Triple H

What went down: Lesnar in complete and total control, putting Triple H through the Spanish announce table and working knees from the clinch and punches. Triple H tries to fire back with a steel chair, and hits the Pedigree after a distraction from Shawn Michaels, but Lesnar kicks out. HHH goes to get his sledgehammer, but Lesnar ducks it and hits the F5, but now it's Triple H that kicks out at two.

Lesnar uses the steel steps to his advantage and wants the Kimura, but Triple H is able to jam his way out of it twice. Now a third time. Lesnar sits on the top turnbuckle with it but Triple H uses a spinebuster to break it. Triple H uses a low blow to put Lesnar down and then slams his arm into the post and then hits it with a steel chair against the post. Then against the steel chair in the ring. Triple H jumps into the Kimura. Lesnar thinking about tapping. Paul Heyman comes in, but Michaels eliminates him with Sweet Chin Music. Lesnar lifts Triple H up and slams him on the steps, but Triple H locks it in again. Repeat. Lesnar lifts him up, but Triple H grabs the head and DDTs him on the steps. He grabs the sledge and hits Lesnar with it and then follows with the Pedigree on the steps to end it.

Winner: Triple H

WWE Championship: The Rock vs. John Cena:

This match got off to a slow start, with the fans chanting "boring" at one point. Lots of punches, holds and knees. Nothing too damaging.

The match was full of counters and finishers and ended with a counter and finisher. Cena hit his AA and locked in the STF several times, but The Rock kicked out or broke out of the hold each time. Cena also hit a Rock Bottom at one point. There were a few times during the match when one of the superstars tried to do the other person's move. The Rock mocked the five-knuckle shuffle at one point.

The Rock hit a Rock Bottom and People's Elbow a few times, but couldn't get the 3-count. It was on a Rock Bottom attempt that the match ended. The Rock went for the Rock Bottom, but Cena countered and hit the AA. Cena covers and gets the 3-count. He is your new WWE Champion.

WINNER AND NEW WWE CHAMPION: John Cena

Post-match: Cena and Rocky have a moment in the ring. They had a conversation that lasted a good minute or so. You could tell it was a friendly, off-script conversation. Both men clearly respect each other. Cena goes to leave the ring and points to the Rock. He exits, leaving The Rock in the ring alone to soak in the moment.
The Rock exits and embraces his family and friends at ringside. He walks up the ramp and Cena is waiting at the top of the ramp. Cena salutes and The Rock salutes right back. Cena and The Rock then raise each other's arms and fireworks go off. It was, as I said in the live blog, a passing of the torch moment. The Rock leaves Cena on the stage to celebrate.
As the pay-per-view went off the air, you could hear Cena say, "The champ is here!" The pay-per-view goes dark and that's the end of Wrestlemania 29.

WRESTLEMANIA 29 RESULTS

The Shield vs. Randy Orton/Sheamus/Big Show: The three superstars dominated The Shield early on, but The Shield gained momentum later in the match. The match ended when The Shield's Seth Rollins was RKO'd by Orton. When Orton stood up, he was speared by Rollins' teammate Roman Reigns. The Shield's Dean Ambrose enters the ring and pins Orton for the victory.
WINNER: The Shield
After the match, The Shield left through the crowd. Big Show and Orton argue in the ring because Show felt Orton "stole the tag" from him. When Sheamus enters the ring, Big Show knocks him out. Show then pops Orton.
Big Show exits to boos from the crowd.
Ryback vs. Mark Henry: Henry dominated the match most of the way, hitting several clotheslines and locking in a few bearhugs. Ryback started to battle back and goes for the Shell Shock, but Henry grabs the ropes and falls on Ryback's back. Henry covers Ryback for the win.
WINNER: Mark Henry
More post-match shenanigans. Trainers enter to tend to Ryback, but Henry scares them off. He attacks Ryback, but Ryback fights back. Ryback then nails the Shell Shock and leads the crowd in chants of "Feed Me More!"
WWE Tag Team Championship match: Team Hell No (c) vs. Dolph Ziggler and Big E Langston: Solid match. Big E showed off his ability with three backbreakers on Kane. That was an impressive display of power. Near the end of the match, Kane and Bryan team up and attack Big E. Big E gets knocked to the outside.
The match ends when Kane nails Ziggler with the chokeslam, then Bryan nails the Flying Goat and pins Ziggler for the win.
After the win, the fans chant "YES! YES! YES!" as Bryan and Kane celebrate in the ring.
WINNER and still WWE Tag Team Champions: Team Hell No
--
Chris Jericho vs. Fandango: Jericho had the edge early on in the match, but Fandango was able to hit his finisher -- top-rope leg drop -- once. He got a near fall. At the end of the match, Jericho hits a Lion Sault and goes for the Walls of Jericho, but Fandango counters, rolls him up for the pin and the win!
WINNER: Fandango
World Heavyweight Championship match: Alberto Del Rio (c) vs. Jack Swagger: This was a decent match, with each superstar locking in their submission moves on a few occasions. Del Rio locked in the cross-arm breaker and forced Swagger to tap.
WINNER and STILL World Heavyweight Champion: Alberto Del Rio
--
The Undertaker vs. CM Punk: This was a great match. Several great sequences. CM Punk even nailed Undertaker's Old School move at one point! The finish: Undertaker hit CM Punk with a tombstone piledriver earlier, but only got a two count. After a crazy sequence of counters, Undertaker grabs Punk and hits another tombstone piledriver. He covers for the win.
WINNER: The Undertaker
After the match, Undertaker celebrates in the ring with the urn that Punk and Paul Heyman brought out to the ring before the match. As he celebrates, fireworks go off and the screens at the top of the stage show "21-0." The streak continues.
Brock Lesnar vs. Triple H - no-holds barred match with Triple H's career on the line: A lot of great moments in this one. Brock was on the offensive early. Lesnar hit Shawn Michaels (who was at ringside supporting Triple H) with an F5 and hit Triple H with an F5, but couldn't get the 3-count.
The finishing sequence was solid. Triple H locked in the kimura, which was used earlier in the match by Brock and used by Brock to "break" Triple H's arm last year. Brock counters by slamming Triple H onto the ring steps twice. Triple H locks in the kimura again, but Brock goes for the counter. He tries to slam Triple H onto the steps again, but Triple H counters with a DDT!
Triple H grabs Brock, hits the Pedigree and pins him for the win.
WINNER: Triple H
After the match, Triple H celebrates with HBK in the ring. Triple H grabs the sledgehammer, climbs to the top of the ring steps and raises his arms in victory as Lesnar lays on the mat.
